Today marks the official start of Fall, and I'm thrilled to introduce my 11th annual Autumn Rotation playlist! It’s time to cozy up with a collection of fresh fall tunes, sprinkled with a touch of nostalgia to perfectly complement those crisp, golden days.
This playlist also features songs you may have heard on my Heavy Rotation playlist over the last few months. Summer was packed with incredible albums, especially this month. I’ve found it hard to keep up. But I have included songs I’m digging, starting with Ratboys who released The Window last month. It’s my favorite album of theirs so far, and it made sense to make “I Want You (Fall 2010)” the lead track. After that, it’s a mix of new tracks & throwbacks. Olivia Newton-John’s Bob Dylan cover, new Mitski bringing some vintage country vibes, a brand new mix of a classic song from The Replacements & an upbeat number from Middle Kids round out the first five songs.
Later in the playlist, you’ll hear tracks like HAIM's "Honey & I," which celebrates its 10th anniversary next week, from the album Days Are Gone. It will transport you back a decade with it’s irresistible harmonies. Also included are new favorites by Vagabon, Jess Williamson, Romy, The Navtral, Toro y Moi, alongside classics from The Dream Academy, Wendy Waldman, Jimmy Eat World, Sharon Van Etten & Lissie.
As the leaves change color and the air turns brisk, let this playlist be your soundtrack for all things autumnal. 🍂
2020s: Favorite Songs (So Far)
I’m well aware I’m a year or two early before I should probably be posting a playlist like this. But I was already working on it, and already listening to it quite a bit. I found myself bouncing around my yearly 💯 favorite songs playlists, put them all together and mixed in some other favorites from my “500 Most Played” songs from each year. Next thing you know, there’s over 700 of my absolute favorite songs from this decade so far.
This playlist will be ever evolving like many of my playlists. I’ll add some songs, remove some songs as time moves on, and eventually make a 💯 and 1,000 favorites from this list. But for now, here it is! Press play & enjoy.
I’d love to hear what your favorite songs from this decade are so far, even if it is a bit early to be having that conversation. That’s all I got!
